Entry Requirements

Certificate in Lay Preaching (level 4)

Students must have the approval of their Parish Council to enter this programme and have passed at least NCEA level 2 or earned an IELTS (Academic) score of 5.0 or higher. Those with neither will sit a Trinity College Entrance Test (TCET) before the beginning of the academic year.

Diploma in Methodist Studies (level 5)

Students must sumbit a pre-application form then attend an interview with the Principal and College Administrator before confirmation of acceptance into the programme. All students must have passed at least NCEA level 2 or earned an IELTS (Academic) score of 5.0 or higher. Those with neither will sit a Trinity College Entrance Test (TCET) before the begining of the academic year.

 

NZ Diploma in Christian Studies (level 6) - Retired

To enter the NZ Diploma in Christian Studies students must have:

  • Completed NCEA level 3; or
  • earned an IELTS (academic) score of 6.0 or higher; or
  • completed the Diploma in Methodist Studies with a B grade average or higher; or
  • hold an undergraduate degree or higher from a recognised institution; o
  • been an accepted candidate for ministry.

Alternatively, those without the above requirements are welcome to sit the Trinity College Entrance Test (TCET) before the beginning of the academic year. In addition, students must submit a pre-application, then attend an interview with the Principal and College Administrator before confirmation of acceptance into the programme.

 

Advanced Diploma in Religious Studies (level 7)

To enter the Advanced Diploma in Religious Studies students must have:

  • Completed the NZ Diploma in Christian Studies with a B average or above; or
  • hold an undergraduate degree in a related field; or
  • be currently serving in church ministry for more than 2 years.

In addition, students must submit a pre-application, then attend an interview with the Principal and College Administrator before confirmation of acceptance into the programme.

 

Bachelor of Theology (level 7)

To be admitted to the degree of Bachelor of Theology, students must:

  • Complete the application process for admission into the College (if not a current student);
  • Be 16 years old or above;
  • Be a New Zealand citizen or resident; and meet at least one of the following requirements:
  • Passed NCEA Level 3 and/or University Entrance exam;
  • Completed the College’s Diploma in Methodist Studies (DipMS L5);
  • Completed the New Zealand Diploma in Christian Studies (NZDipCS L6);
  • Completed the College’s Advanced Diploma in Religious Studies (ADipRS L7);
  • Hold at least a Level 4 qualification in a related field from a New Zealand or an overseas provider.

In addition, students must submit a pre-application, then attend an interview with the Principal and College Administrator before confirmation of acceptance into the programme.

Certificate of Proficiency

Trinity College papers are available as Certificate of Proficiency (interest papers). Papers that have a pre-requisite are noted in the list of papers along with the individual paper cost. Any paper listed without identification of a pre-requisite may be taken at leavel 5 by an individual. Papers are available based in Auckland or as on-line. A limit of 2 interest papers only in a given year will be accepted. If a student would like to seek enrolment in the Diploma in Methodist Studies programme, their work will be considered for recognition of prior learning.

Students must submit a pre-application form to the College Administrator at least three months prior to the commencement of the paper.  All students must have passed at least NCEA level 2 or earned an IELTS (Academic) score of 5.0 or higher. Those with neither will sit a Trinity College Entrance Test (TCET) before the begining of the academic year.
